The invention of polyurethane foam revolutionized the commercial packaging industry. Polyurethane finally provided a much-needed custom packaging solution for items that were especially both bulky and sensitive. Before polyurethane, the choice was between cardboard, paper, and plastic packing. In spite of the best efforts, damage to expensive merchandise was common. This was a costly problem for industries of all kinds.

Then polyurethane came along to absorb the shocks! Spray-in-place packing foam dramatically reduced the incidence of damage in transit. An effective insulating material and shock absorber, it is perfect as a packing medium. What makes it even more perfect is that it is cheap, has a wide range of applications, and is quick and easy to customize for a particular packing job.

The machinery needed for startup, however, is expensive. The gun used to deliver the foam in spray-in-place packaging is not cheap. The machine used in foam-in-a-bag packaging is also expensive. Even so, the machinery quickly pays for itself by dramatically reducing annual losses from goods damaged or destroyed in transit.
