Learning a few secrets of the trade, you can become an expert and move anything.

Moving a large, valuable and fragile item that means a lot to you can be time consuming and difficult. Whether you are a business or an individual, it can pay to have a professional take care of it. Or you learn how the professionals do it and then do it yourself.

Learning a few secrets of the trade, you can become an expert and move anything. Be ready for some surprises, though; the moving industry has changed a lot over the past few decades. The invention of high-tech materials has made a big difference in packing.

In the past, no matter how well large items were packed, they moved around and settled in their crates during transport. If they were even slightly loosely packed, they rubbed and crashed against the sides of the crate, sometimes causing it to break open. Even if this didn’t happen, objects were often damaged.

Then spray-in-place packaging came along. The object is first covered with a non-sticky material then enveloped in layers of polyurethane foam. Next it is slowly lowered into the crate and the foam is allowed to set. Any remaining gaps on the sides of the object are filled in with foam. If a number of crates are being transported in the same vehicle, foam can be sprayed between the crates to keep them from banging against each other.

With spray-in-place foam, your precious cargo will arrive at its destination in perfect condition. All you need to do is follow the procedures for using it to make sure your item is fully cushioned and protected.
